Ruthless Janko takes revenge on Querrey

LeggMasonJanko came down hard on the American who defeated him last Saturday in LA, posting a straight-sets win over Sam Querrey to blow into the third round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic. Janko won 7-6(3), 6-3 in 78 minutes.

Washington: Janko makes strong start

LeggMasonJanko claimed a straight-sets victory over veteran Frenchman Arnaud Clement in the first round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, an ATP World Tour 500 tennis tournament in Washington. Janko, who is currently ranked 41st in the world, defeated Clement 6-4, 6-0 in 74 minutes and showed that his good form continues, and is only going to get better before the U.S. Open.

Querrey Ousts Janko in SFs

FarmersClassicDefending champion Sam Querrey ended the hopes of six seeded Janko to reach the final of the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles with a 6-7(3), 7-6(5), 6-4 win in a two-hour, 48-minute marathon.

The opening set featured no breaks of serve as both players held serves with relative ease. At 1-1, Janko squandered the only break point that came his way. Serving to stay in the set at 5-6, Janko fought off five set points, forcing the set to the tiebreaker which he dominated winning seven points to three. read more…

LA: Battling Janko makes last four

FarmersClassicSixth seeded Janko booked a semi-final berth in Los Angeles after scoring a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Marcos Baghdatis in one hour and 40 minutes.

The Serb hit seven aces and held ten of 11 service games on his way to securing his first career victory over the Cypriot. The key moment came when Janko broke Baghdatis for the third time in the match (with the help of a double fault) to go up 6-5 and then held his own serve to win the contest in straight sets.

LA: Janko rallies to 2nd round win

FarmersClassicJanko knocked out Indian Somdev Devvarman 7-6(9), 6-2 on Wednesday in Los Angeles to reach his fourth quarter-final of the season.

Both players served well with Janko being more aggressive and consistent with his second serve.

Janko managed to convert five of his 13 break points while Devvarman won three of his six opportunities. read more…
