Janko Advances at Barcelona Open
No. 5 seed Janko defeated Victor Hanescu of Romania 7-5, 6-4 Wednesday to advance to a third-round meeting with Frederico Gil of Portugal at the Barcelona Open. The match lasted one hour and 43 minutes.
Tipsy broke his Romanian opponent four times from eight opportunities. Even though he landed just 52 percent of his first serves, Jankela won 63 percent of the points on serve and was broken just twice in the match.
The matchup against Gil will be the first head-to-head meeting between the two.
Barcelona: Janko As Living Mannequin
Nicolás Almagro, Albert Ramos and Janko Tipsarevic, three tennis players that will compete next week in the first round of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, modeled as human mannequins during an appearance this afternoon at the Mango store on 65 Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona. The three athletes surprised shoppers by perching in the window of the store.

Janko Beaten in Monte-Carlo 3rd RD
No. 7 seed Janko lost in the third round of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters on Thursday.
He was defeated 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 by No. 9 seed Gilles Simon in two hours and 19 minutes, despite hitting 11 aces. Tipsy falls to a 17-8 record on the season and is 0-4 against the Frenchman.
Simon held eleven of his 12 service games, saving nine of the 10 break points en route to clinching the victory. Janko dropped serve five times. read more…
